Chiho Aoshima - Little Miss Gravestone’s Absent Musing

Kaikai Kiki Gallery - Tokyo, Japan

Visitors to the Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo during July 2016 will have seen Darkroom work done in collaboration with Japanese artist, Chiho Aoshima. This enthralling interactive triptych displays three characters in a graveyard: a dancing tree; a singing girl; and a shamisen player. The three swing into action only when approached by a viewer with an original score broken into a sequence of loops that randomly combine for a fully new experience every time. Little Miss Gravestone's Absent Musing is on display at the Vancouver Art Gallery through 5 February 2017 as part of the Juxtapoz x Superflat co-curated by renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
